Just Shut Up and Dance

It often happens that you start losing confidence in yourself. Your boss always doubts your intentions, your colleagues are always plotting against you - all this seems to be pulling you back in life. But whenever this happens to you - always remember - he is watching everything. Presenting a Doha ( a rhyming couplet of two lines - often meaning much more than the words therein) here -

Whats in your name - its the name of Ram which does matter
What are so proud of, all at happens is done by the latter

Which means - he is watching everything. If you think nothing can be worse than working at office , then God has made Aditya Chopra and Shaad Ali for you. And together, they have created "Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom" - nothing could be worse than that - not even your boss.

Its a tough task making a full fledged novel of a short story - and the Director fails. There are very few songs in the movie , but every single song is sol ong that it reminds you of a management training -
  • The same thing is repeated N number of times
  • You feel very sleepy
  • I seems like a never ending thing
  • The trainer is pretty pretty
The first part of the movie is really boring and does not grab your attention. There is some amount of comedy - but just enough to bring a faint smile on your lips. You wake up lost in the interval , wondering - "Is there a story here ?". The director decide to take a sharp turn right after the interval - he decided to make things rally silly and really boring - with the song "Bol na halke halke" . You have not seen this song on TV - its because showing it on TV would not exactly be a "promotion" of the movie. Anybody who sees the song, will never ever muster enough courage to watch the entire movie. The only good thing about this song is that it has been shot in Delhi.

But then everything is not negative - and one of them is performance. Abhishek, Laara and Bobby have done matchless performances. In many scenes, Bobby Deol has brought a new freshness to the scene. If you are surprised reading this - then think about me watching him in the movie. Preity is repetitive and should sit down and think about it.

Now coming th the name of the movie - about dancing. Three quarters of the movie just gets done without any dancing - but then comes the South Hall Dance Competition. It is nothing short of amazing. It is well choreographed and Abhishek, Lara, Bobby and Preity make you think that your money has been spent well. But then you remember that you are watching this in a Multiplex - and there is a loss.

Oh yes, and there is Amitabh Bacchan - he is there to just face the music, with only one line to say in the entire movie - "Mind blowing" - Yes Sir, we also blew off our lids after watching the movie.

All in all - great performances in a a pathetic story is what Jhoom is all about.

So should I watch it or not ?
Definitely - but on DVD (original not pirated) - or wait for 3 months and it will premiere on TV। Or office parties - save your hard earned money for something else.
